Eckhart Tolle in his book, A New Earth, explains so beautifully, “Notice the sensation of the breath. Feel the air moving in and out of your body. Notice how the chest and abdomen expand and contract slightly with the in- and out-breath. One conscious breath is enough to make some space where before there was the uninterrupted succession of one thought after another. One conscious breath (two or three would be even better), taken many times a day, is an excellent way of bringing space into your life. Even if you meditated on your breathing for two hours or more, which some people do, one breath is all you ever need to be aware of, indeed ever can be aware of. The rest is memory or anticipation, which is to say, thought. Breathing isn't really something that you do but something that you witness as it happens. Breathing happens by itself. The intelligence within the body is doing it. All you have to do is watch it happening. There is no strain or effort involved. Also, notice the brief cessation of the breath, particularly the still point at the end of the out-breath, before you start breathing in again.”

Hello beloved ones! This is Meline, and you are listening to episode 9 of Harmonious, where we explore the synergy of Crystals and Herbs. Today we will explore the herb Chamomile and the crystal Chrysoprase, and how these beautiful beings can benefit our throat chakra and our overall wellness.
But before we move on, I need to mention that everything you learn in this podcast is for educational purposes only. Please do not start or discontinue any treatment or medication based on what you learn in this podcast. It is essential that you consult a medical doctor before initiating or discontinuing or changing any medications or treatments for your physical, emotional, or mental health. And please make sure that you are not allergic to any of the herbs that you wish to experiment with.

Today, we are going to explore the throat chakra which is known by its Sanskrit name, Viśuddha. The English translation of this name means especially pure, clean, and sanctified. Our throat chakra is the first of our three spiritual chakras. It is the voice of the truth; our own voice which is connected to the energetic universal Source of all truth. We express ourselves through our throat chakra. We speak our mind into the tangible world through our voice. We communicate with other beings and we express how we feel as we sing, laugh, cry, love, build, and destroy through our voice.
Our throat chakra is located in center of the neck, right above the thyroid gland. It governs the throat, vagus nerve, spinal cord, tongue, jaw, thyroid, teeth, tonsils, and carotid arteries and jugular veins.

When throat chakra is balanced we feel that we are being understood, we feel confident expressing our true self, and we speak the truth.
When there are imbalances in our throat chakra, we may avoid speaking the truth. We may not express ourselves clearly and as a result we feel as if we are not being heard or understood by the world. Lying, people pleasing, interrupting others and inability to listen are some of the symptoms of an imbalanced throat chakra.
An imbalance of throat chakra may present as an overactive or an underactive chakra. An overactive throat chakra may manifest as a tendency to speak first and think second. We may become very creative with our words and come up with ways to avoid speaking the truth. An overactive throat chakra may result in telling lies or withholding the truth.

An underactive or blocked throat chakra may result in a person being very shy or being fearful of public speaking. A person with blocked or underactive throat chakra may have so many great ideas yet it may be difficult to find the words or the courage to speak out loud. This may result in feelings of isolation and loneliness.
Thankfully, there are many different methods to keep our throat chakra healthy and balanced such as singing, humming, yoga poses such as the fish pose, reiki, wearing the color light blue, drinking herbal tea, using healing crystals, meditation, aromatherapy and so much more.

The herb that we are going to explore today is Chamomile and a cup of warm chamomile tea is very soothing for the throat and absolutely relaxing for the nerves.
Chamomile is the common name for several herbs in the family Asteraceae. Two of the species, Matricaria (German Chamomile) and Chamaemelum (Roman chamomile) are commonly used to make herbal tea or other herbal infusions. People have been consuming chamomile tea for more than 5000 years.
Energetically speaking Chamomile is masculine. It is associated with the Sun, and its element is water. It is said that soldiers would walk through chamomile fields to gain protection and strength from this herb before going to battle. Chamomile is extremely healing for the liver, stomach, and lungs. The part of this plant commonly used are the flowers. Chamomile flowers are small, white and they look like little daisies. Here is an interesting fact about chamomile essential oil; during the distillation process of the chamomile essential oil a beautiful blue color results from the natural azulene released during this process. Chamomile essential oil has a high content of azulene, the active organic compound of chamomile, which bears a blue color.

Chamomile is medicinally used as:
- a nervine and a calmative to help with headaches, stress and anxiety;
- as an antispasmodic to help relax muscle tension and spasms;
- as a carminative to help with digestion and to regulate the bowels.
Now let’s explore the healing crystal Chrysoprase. Chrysoprase is a gorgeous blue-green crystal mainly associated with the Heart & Throat Chakra. It belongs to the chalcedony family, and it is composed of crystals so fine that they cannot be seen as distinct particles under normal magnification. Chrysoprase is associated with the goddess Aphrodite and therefore is also called the stone of Venus. This stone was often mistaken for emerald by ancient jewelers.
I have heard a strange story about Alexander the Great and his Chrysoprase stone but I’m not a historian and I don’t know how accurate this may be. However, it is an interesting story. It is said that Alexander always wore a girdle into battle that was embedded with a bright chrysoprase stone. When he returned from his campaign in India, he took off his girdle to bathe in the Euphrates River. While the girdle lay unattended, a serpent came and bit off the stone and dropped it into the water. Alexander didn't win another campaign after loosing his precious Chrysoprase stone.

Chrysoprase is one of the birthstones for the month of May and has traditionally symbolized happiness, and prudence. It is a powerful stone that brings good fortune and prosperity. It fills us with grace and helps us to see the gentle beauty within ourselves, allowing us to enjoy self-expression and courage through fluent speech and mental dexterity. Chrysoprase prevents us from speaking out without thinking and in anger. It is said that the chrysoprase promotes the love of truth. Chrysoprase is also excellent for relaxation, deep meditation, and peaceful sleep.

Alright, now that we have learned a little bit about our throat chakra, the herb Chamomile, and the crystal Chrysoprase, how can we integrate all of this knowledge and benefit from the synergy of the herbs and the crystals?
- Chamomile is excellent for herbal tea. It is a wonderful remedy for a sore throat. To make a cup of delicious and warm Chamomile tea, bring some water to boil, add the hot water over two teaspoons of dried chamomile flowers, add a teaspoon of honey, and some fresh lemon juice, strain your herbal tea and enjoy! To maximize the healing power of this herbal medicine, you may wear a chrysoprase crystal pendant around your neck. As you sip your warm tea, visualize the blue-green glow of the chrysoprase crystal shining brightly and rejuvenating your throat chakra.

- Next method is to grow your own chamomile flowers! It is a very easy plant to grow in your garden. You can even grow chamomile in pots and harvest your own herbal tea! Placing a few chrysoprase crystals around your chamomile flowers will show your plant how much you love them and in my humble opinion, it is a great way to integrate the energies of the plant and the crystal. You may change the crystals you have placed around your plants every once in a while, these crystals are going to be super charged, cleansed by Mother Earth, and vibrating with the energy of the plants around them. Now when you carry these crystals that came from your garden, you are also carrying the energy of your garden around with you.

- Chamomile flowers and Chrysoprase crystals are fantastic for making crystal grids. Let your imagination guide you. You may light a light blue candle with the intention of balancing and healing your throat chakra, or for courage to do a public speech, or to be able to express your true self to the world. Then start creating beautiful designs around your candle using chamomile flowers and Chrysoprase crystals. Once you finish making your artwork, sit in front of your crystal grid and if you choose to do so, repeat the following affirmations for your throat chakra: “I am safe to express myself freely. I am capable of expressing my true self. I am courageous to speak and to communicate kindly with myself and others. Whenever I speak I am heard and I am understood clearly by others. I speak with a calm mind, a kind heart, and a clear language.”
- Another method is to make a calming spray using chamomile essential oil. To make this spray drop a small piece of chrysoprase crystal inside a spray bottle and add some water on top. Drop 7-10 drops of chamomile essential oil to the water, close the spray bottle and shake well. You can use this calming spray to refresh the air when you meditate, or lightly spray on your pillow to promote a good night’s sleep.
