“Time may not heal all wounds, but time is absolutely needed for healing. Just like students who show up when the teacher is ready, healing happens when we are ready to receive the healing.”

Hello beloved ones! This is Meline, and you are listening to episode 12 of Harmonious, where we explore the synergy of Crystals and Herbs. It is Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere and it is the longest day of the year! In today’s episode we are going to explore the herb Borage, and the crystal Rhodonite. We are going to make Sun tea with Borage flowers, and as a bonus, there is a complete chakra balancing affirmation meditation at the end of this episode.
But before we move on, I need to mention that everything you learn in this podcast is for educational purposes only. Please do not start or discontinue any treatment or medication based on what you learn in this podcast. It is essential that you consult a medical doctor before initiating or discontinuing or changing any medications or treatments for your physical, emotional, or mental health. And please make sure that you are not allergic to any of the herbs that you wish to experiment with.

Alright! Let’s dive right in and talk about this beautiful and healing flower, Borage. Known by its scientific name, Borago officinalis, and its folk name Star Flower, Borage is a flowering plant native to the Mediterranean region. The energy of the Borage is masculine, it is associated with the planet Jupiter, and its element is air. It is an annual plant and produces blue flowers that look like stars, hence the name, Star Flower. Borage tea is a famous folks remedy in Iran and in Farsi it is called "Gole Gavzaban" which literally means “Cow’s tongue flower.” It is one of the first herbal medicines that Iranian mothers and grandmothers reach for when someone in the family has a tummy ache, a headache, a cold, or any other pains and aches. It is also used to calm the nerves and help with sleep.
Borage is a potent medicinal herb and its flowers, leaves and oil from the seeds have healing benefits for the skin conditions such as eczema, it can also reduce fever, help with cough, rheumatoid arthritis and pain caused by inflammation.
Borage oil contains high amounts of GLA, which is a type of omega-6 fatty acid, helpful for treating PMS symptoms, ADHD, bone loss, hormone imbalances, respiratory conditions, heart disease and stroke.

And now, allow me to introduce the beautiful stone of forgiveness and compassion, the crystal Rhodonite. It’s a gorgeous crystal which has a lovely pink or red color and often has patches of black. Rhodonite helps balance our emotions. It helps us see both sides of an issue. It is a very grounding stone and balances the Yin-and Yang energies. Known as the “first aid stone” or the “rescue crystal,” Rhodonite supports healing from shock and panic. It also resonates very strongly with forgiveness and helps us in the process of forgiving ourselves and others. It is the stone of unconditional love and it soothes matters of the heart. Rhodonite is not considered a water safe stone, as it may contain potentially toxic elements that may leak into water. However, you may use soap and water to clean the Rhodonite crystal. Rhodonite has iron content and may rust if left in water for a long time.
So now let’s explore some ideas on how to combine the benefits of Borage and the Rhodonite, and how we can incorporate the energy of the Sun with these methods on this Summer Solstice.

- I love flower essences. I love their healing effects and I also enjoy making them whenever I get the chance. But first, allow me to tell you a little bit about flower essences. Flower Essences capture the energetic imprint, or the soul of a plant. Flowers are the highest expression of the life force of a plant, and this energy expression is transferred into the water, and preserved with brandy. Flower essences are energetic remedies that carry a flower's healing vibration directly to us and support us for our soul's healing journey. Each flower offers a unique set of emotional healing properties, and here are the benefits of the Borage flower essence:

It is great for optimism and encourages playfulness to help uplift our spirits when we are feeling sad and discouraged. Borage helps us rise above sorrow and hopelessness, and instill fresh courage, enthusiasm, and confidence to move through life's obstacles.
So, if you are interested, let’s make some borage flower essence. It is best to make flower essences in a Sunny morning. Please note that there are many different ways to make flower essences, and all of them are valid and respected. This is the way that I make them, so feel free to modify the steps if you are called to do so. You will need a clear glass jar with a wide opening, some fresh water to fill at least half of the jar, a pair of clean scissors, and living borage flowers. When you approach the flower, be gentle and clear your mind. Sit with the flower and meditate for a moment holding a Rhodonite crystal and focus your intention on forgiveness and unconditional love. When you choose which flower you want to cut, gently ask the plant if that is alright if you harvest that particular flower. When you get a clear positive message, then hold the jar with water right underneath the flower and cut the flower into the jar. Try your best not to touch the flower or the water with your fingers and hands. Since flower essences are very subtle energetic remedies, our own energy may interfere with its therapeutic effect. After you collect three or four flowers, cover the top of the jar with a cheese cloth and leave it under the Sun for up to 5 hours. Then, use a clear strainer to remove the flowers.

Fill a 4oz dropper bottle with brandy and add 4 drops of the flower water that you just strained. Close the bottle and shake as much as you can. This shaking is very important since it helps the energetic imprint of the flower to settle into the medium. Now, your mother tincture is ready. To make a daily medicine tincture, add two tablespoons of brandy to a dropper bottle, and add 2 drops of the mother tincture, then fill the rest of the bottle with clear drinking water and shake well. Your Borage flower essence is ready to use. You may add a few drops of your flower essence in a glass of water and sip throughout the day.
- Another method is to make Sun tea on this Summer Solstice day! For this tea you may use dried borage flowers. Add 2 tablespoons of dried borage flowers into a jar of cold water and cover it with a cheesecloth. Then, leave it under the Sun for a few hours. Then strain the tea, add some lemon and honey to your tea and enjoy this refreshing drink. While you are sipping your Borage tea, make a crystal grid using rhodonite crystals and dried borage flowers.
- You can make borage tea using boiling water as well. This tea has a deep purple color and I always love watching it change its color to a lovely pink when I add lemon to it. You will immediately notice the calming and healing power of the Borage tea.
There, my beloved listeners. That is the herb and crystal of the day. And now, as I promised, I will be guiding you through an affirmation meditation for balancing all of our chakras. I have gathered all the affirmations from the chakra series episode. I may have added a few more to make it into a coherent and meaningful meditation. I invite you to find a calm and quiet place, sit or lie down and make yourself comfortable. You may repeat the affirmations out loud or in your mind.
We will begin by taking a deep breath in through the nose, expanding our belly and then filling our chest and the exhaling slowly through the nose. Lets take another deep breath in through the nose, expand the belly and then fill the chest with air, then exhale slowly through the nose. Let’s take one more intentional deep breath through the nose, and then hold your breath at the end of the inhale for three, two, one, and exhale. Now continue breathing normally.
Shift your focus to your Root chakra and visualize a red ball of light vibrantly glowing where your Root chakra is located as you repeat or listen to the following affirmations: ““I feel centered. I am connected to my body. My body is my home. I feel safe and secure. I have what I need. I am connected to mother earth with strong roots. I am cared for. I am loved.”
Now, move that ball of light up your spine to your Sacral chakra and visualize it glow a bright orange color. “Creative energy flows through me freely. I invite joy into my life. Abundance flows through me. I am passionate about my life. I trust my loved ones, and they can trust me. I am comfortable in my body and I treat it with care.”
Let’s move the ball of light up the spine and where the Solar plexus chakra is located. Now this ball of light is shining like a golden Sun in your Solar Plexus. “I feel calm, confident, and powerful. I am motivated, capable, and safe. I am kind to myself and others. I value myself. I am important and I know what is best for me. I am responsible for all decisions that make in my life. I am a powerful source of love and light.”
The ball of light now travels up the spine and where the Heart chakra is located. It is shining brightly with a beautiful green color. The affirmations for balancing the chakra are as follows: “I am a source of unconditional love. I love myself unconditionally. It is easy for me to find love wherever I go. I feel good when I forgive myself and others. I deserve to love and to be loved by myself and others.”
Let’s move the ball of light up where the Throat chakra resides. It is now shining brightly with a light blue color. Here are the affirmation to balance our throat chakra: “I am safe to express myself freely. I am capable of expressing my true self. I am courageous to speak and to communicate kindly with myself and others. Whenever I speak I am heard and I am understood clearly by others. I speak with a calm mind, a kind heart, and a clear language.”
Now move the ball of light up where the third eye chakra is located. It is now shining brightly with a deep indigo color. “I trust my intuition, my inner wisdom. I know that I am an extension of the universe. I am a divine being experiencing a human life. I learn from my experiences and challenges in life. I see clearly and I think clearly. My mind is a safe and kind space for me to explore. My imagination is vast, expansive, and endless. I have a deep sense of knowing everything I need to know. I love and accept myself just the way I am.”
Let’s now move the ball of light slightly above our head where the Crown chakra resides. “I am a divine being. I am a spiritual being living in a human body. I honor the sacred wisdom of the universe that lives within me. I listen to my highest self, guiding my actions and decisions. I release the need to control my life and surrender to a higher power. I am loved, cherished, and adored by this Universe. I bravely let go and allow the Universe to reveal its beautiful plan for me. I am love. I am light. I am connected to all.”

Now gently bring your focus back to your room. Wiggle your toes and your fingers, and when you are ready, gently open your eyes.
