Harmonious Podcast: Episode 16 - Green Tea & Smoky Quartz

Updated: May 6, 2025

The probability of you, specifically you, being born into this world is 1 in 400 trillion. This is an extremely small number, almost nonexistent. Now let me help you visualize how small this number is; imagine the probability or the chance of a person winning the lottery in their lifetime which is roughly about one in 300 million. Now imagine a person winning the lottery 1.33 million times in their life. This is the probability of you being born, beloved miracle. What is a miracle you ask? A miracle is defined as a surprising and welcome event that cannot be explained using natural or scientific laws, therefore it is considered to be the work of divine powers.

Hi there beloved ones! This is Meline, and you are listening to Harmonious, where we explore the synergy of Crystals and Herbs. Today we are going to explore the herb Camellia sinensis, commonly known as green tea, and the crystal smoky quartz. We will explore many different properties of these beautiful allies and how they can assist us with the improvement of our mind, body, and spirit. I am also including a short guided meditation at the end of this episode to help you release any stagnant energies and to help your mind, body and spirit relax.

But before we move on, I need to mention that everything you learn in this podcast is for educational purposes only. Please do not start or discontinue any treatment or medication based on what you learn in this podcast. It is essential that you consult a medical doctor before initiating or discontinuing or changing any medications or treatments for your physical, emotional, or mental health. And please make sure that you are not allergic to any of the herbs that you wish to experiment with.

I love tea. There is a saying that there is nothing that a cup of freshly brewed tea cannot solve. Tea is the world’s most popular drink after water. Green tea originates from Camellia sinensis leaves, the same plant used to produce black tea, oolong tea, and white tea. What sets green tea apart from other varieties is that it undergoes minimal oxidation during processing. The leaves are typically plucked and then quickly steamed or pan-fired to prevent enzymatic reactions that lead to oxidation. As a result, green tea retains more of its natural color, flavor, and nutritional compounds.

According to Chinese legend, Emperor Shen Nong is often credited with the accidental discovery of tea around 2737 B.C.

According to the legend, one day, Emperor Shen Nong was resting under a tree while his servants were boiling water for him to drink. As the wind blew, some leaves from a nearby Camellia sinensis tree fell into the water pot. Unaware of this, the servants served the water to the emperor, and he took a sip. He found the taste refreshing and delightful. Amazed by this newfound beverage, he asked his servants what it was. Upon learning about the leaves in the water, he decided to investigate further.

Intrigued by the accidental infusion, Emperor Shen Nong explored the potential medicinal properties of the tea leaves. He is said to have experimented with different preparation methods and discovered that tea had various health benefits, including its ability to refresh and invigorate the body and mind.

Therapeutic uses of tea are many; for instance, tea is great for heart health, balancing cholesterol, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, antiseptic and antimicrobial, great for aiding in weight loss, cancer prevention, and so much more.

Green tea particularly is rich in antioxidants, may help with weight management, support cardiovascular health, improve brain function, reduce the risk of certain cancers, and have anti-inflammatory effects. Green tea contains less caffeine compared to black tea and coffee, making it a popular choice for those looking for a milder caffeine boost. The exact caffeine content can vary depending on the type of green tea and how it is brewed, but generally, it contains about 20-45 mg of caffeine per 8-ounce cup.

Green tea is typically prepared with hot water, but it is essential to be careful with the water temperature. Using water that is too hot can lead to a bitter taste, as the delicate flavors of green tea can be easily compromised. Ideally, water around 175°F (80°C) is recommended for most green teas.

Personally, I love the flavor of green tea; however, I frequently use green tea for its antiseptic properties.

I brew a fresh cup of green tea, let it cool down, and I use it to gently wash minor wounds.

Whenever I experience a sore throat, I brew some green tea, add some salt to it, let it cool down and gargle whit it.

The energy of Camellia sinensis is masculine, its element is fire, and it is associated with the Sun.

Now let’s explore one of my most beloved crystals, the smoky quartz. I can’t decide which crystal I love the most, Amethyst or Smoky quartz.

Smoky quartz, named for its alluring smoky hues, is a captivating gemstone formed through the natural irradiation of rock crystal. The spectrum of its colors varies from soft grayish-brown to rich, deep black. This gemstone's appearance can range from transparent to translucent and occasionally even opaque. Fascinatingly, ancient Chinese utilized flat pieces of smoky quartz as lenses for sunglasses as early as the 12th century. Cairngorm, a variety of smoky quartz discovered in the beautiful Cairngorm Mountains of Scotland, holds special significance in Scottish culture. Revered for its unique beauty, this precious stone finds its way into exquisite Scottish jewelry and adorns kilt pins, adding a touch of elegance and tradition to these cherished adornments.

Smoky quartz is considered a powerful and grounding crystal, helping to anchor and stabilize one's energy to the Earth while at the same time raising vibrations during meditation. It is believed to provide a strong protective energy, shielding the wearer from negative influences and unwanted energies.

Smoky quartz can help bring emotional balance and relieve feelings of fear, stress, anxiety, and depression. It is a calming stone, soothing emotional ups and downs and promoting a sense of inner peace. Metaphysically, smoky quartz is considered a stone of detoxification. It is said to cleanse and purify not only the physical body but also the energy fields and the environment around it. Smoky quartz is often associated with the Root Chakra, the energy center located at the base of the spine. It helps balance and activate this chakra, stabilizing our connection to the physical world.

Both green tea and smoky quarts promote a calming, grounding, and earthy energy to us. To combine their benefits, I suggest:

- Attaching smoky quarts crystal point at the end of a small spoon, the part of the spoon that you hold between your fingers, making it a decorative and special spoon to stir your tea with. This is a great way to connect with the energy of the smoky quartz while enjoying a cup of refreshing green tea. This also makes a great DIY project to find the perfect crystal and the perfect spoon that match!

You can also attach a smoky quartz pendant to the end of a tea strainer chain, so that the crystal can hang touching against the teacup.

- Wearing smoky quartz jewelry is one of the best ways to cultivate its grounding energies. Enjoy a tea tasting fun activity while wearing smoky quartz! Try different brewing methods, taste different types of green tea, and try adding honey, lemon, or even salt to your tea and experiment with the different tastes. You never know when you may discover a new flavor!

Please do not listen to the following meditation while driving. Follow along in a safe environment where you can close your eyes and rest.

If you wish to follow along with this guided meditation for releasing tension, worries, or any unwanted energies, find a comfortable place. Sit or lie down and make sure that your body is completely relaxed and your back is supported.

Let’s start by taking a few deep breaths in your own pace. Focus on the movement of your belly and chest as you inhale, and exhale slow and deep breaths.

When you are ready, gently close your eyes and shift your focus inward.

Visualize standing bare feet on warm and soft sand. You can hear calm ocean waves in the distance, and a gentle breeze brushes against your hair.

What time of the day is it? Is it early morning? Evening perhaps? Maybe the Moon and the stars are out in the sky? Visualize your favorite time of the day and start walking slowly towards the ocean.

As you walk, you notice that you are carrying a heavy weight with you. You notice this weight is nothing but tangled strings, slowing you down as you walk. These tangled strings represent your worries, stress, or any heaviness that you may experience in your life. Take a moment and untangle yourself from these strings. Cut them if you need to, remove the knotted areas, pull them off of your shoulders, hands, and feet. Now take this bundle of now untangled strings and offer them to the ocean. Leave them on the shore. Notice that now you can move freely, almost weightlessly. Allow the clear ocean waves to wash over your feet. The water has perfect temperature. Dip your hands in the crystal-clear water and refresh.

As you look to your side you notice that the ocean waves took the tangled strings away from you and into the depts of the ocean.

Take a moment to thank the ocean for washing away what was weighing you down, for its cleansing and refreshing energy. Turn around and walk away free and relaxed, knowing that you can come back to this place, and give to the ocean whatever you no longer wish to carry with you.

When you are ready, start bringing your awareness to where you are sitting or lying down. Take a deep breath and wiggle your toes, move your fingers, smile, and gently open your eyes.
